{"id":1556,"date":"2018-07-31T11:27:36","date_gmt":"2018-07-31T09:27:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/archive.brucon.org\/2021\/?page_id=1556"},"modified":"2021-10-06T19:55:35","modified_gmt":"2021-10-06T17:55:35","slug":"workshop-howto","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/archive.brucon.org\/2021\/workshop-howto\/","title":{"rendered":"Workshop howto"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"Before_we_get_starting...\" class=\"mw-headline\">Before we get started&#8230;<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>There are a few simple rules for the Workshop registration and participation at BruCON.<\/p>\n<p>Please see below:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>BruCON attendees may only register to one workshop per timeslot<\/li>\n<li>BruCON attendees who have registered to a workshop are requested to be present\u00a0<b>15 min<\/b>\u00a0before the official start time of the workshop\n<ul>\n<li>Please be present at the Workshop Room entrance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>10 min<\/b>\u00a0before the official start time of the workshop, we will call out the names of the registered participants\n<ul>\n<li>Please be sure to answer when your name is called<\/li>\n<li>If you don&#8217;t hear your name being called, notify yourself to the BruCON volunteer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>5 min<\/b>\u00a0before the official start time of the workshop, registrations are considered void, and the access is on a first come first served basis, up to the maximum capacity of the Workshop.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Registration Opening<\/h3>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The registration to the workshops will open on the:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Friday 24th of September at 5 PM (CET)\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Thursday 7th of October at 9 AM (CET) &#8211; Second slots<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>A total of 20 slots for each workshop will be made available on a first come first served basis.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Please refer to the guide below on how to proceed to register (once the registrations are opened) and to the FAQ at the end if you have any questions.<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"Where_to_start.3F\" class=\"mw-headline\">Where to start?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The first thing to do is to go on the BruCON sched page located at: <a href=\"https:\/\/brucon0x0d.sched.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/brucon0x0d.sched.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once you arrive on the webpage, you should see something similar to this:<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"image\" href=\"https:\/\/2017.brucon.org\/index.php\/File:Sched_Workshop_Registration_01.png\"><img src=\"https:\/\/2017.brucon.org\/images\/thumb\/a\/a8\/Sched_Workshop_Registration_01.png\/730px-Sched_Workshop_Registration_01.png\" alt=\"Sched Workshop Registration 01.png\" width=\"730\" height=\"240\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In order for you to be able to register to a workshop, you will need a sched.com account.<\/p>\n<p>To do so, click on the &#8220;<b>Sign Up<\/b>&#8221; button located on the top right corner of the webpage.<\/p>\n<p><b>Note<\/b>: The account you are about to create is on the sched.com website. This account is not affiliated or linked to the BruCON website.<\/p>\n<p>If you already have a sched.com account, you will need to be logged in with it to be able to register to a Workshop.<\/p>\n<p>Once logged in with your sched.com account, the webpage should look something like this:<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"image\" href=\"https:\/\/2017.brucon.org\/index.php\/File:Sched_Workshop_Registration_02.png\"><img src=\"https:\/\/2017.brucon.org\/images\/thumb\/c\/c4\/Sched_Workshop_Registration_02.png\/730px-Sched_Workshop_Registration_02.png\" alt=\"Sched Workshop Registration 02.png\" width=\"730\" height=\"208\" \/><\/a>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"Registering_to_a_Workshop\" class=\"mw-headline\">Registering to a Workshop<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The notable difference (apart from the &#8220;please login&#8221; message) is that little white circle next to each item.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"image\" href=\"https:\/\/2017.brucon.org\/index.php\/File:Sched_Workshop_Registration_03.png\"><img src=\"https:\/\/2017.brucon.org\/images\/c\/c4\/Sched_Workshop_Registration_03.png\" alt=\"Sched Workshop Registration 03.png\" width=\"730\" height=\"177\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you click on the title of the item (in this example: &#8220;BruCON Workshop Registration Demo&#8221;). It will open a page with more details about this specific item:<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"image\" href=\"https:\/\/2017.brucon.org\/index.php\/File:Sched_Workshop_Registration_05.png\"><img src=\"https:\/\/2017.brucon.org\/images\/b\/bc\/Sched_Workshop_Registration_05.png\" alt=\"Sched Workshop Registration 05.png\" width=\"730\" height=\"685\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>To register to a workshop, click on the small white circle on the left of any of the items.<\/p>\n<p>Once clicked, the white circle should change into a little black circle with a white checkmark, like this:<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"image\" href=\"https:\/\/2017.brucon.org\/index.php\/File:Sched_Workshop_Registration_06.png\"><img src=\"https:\/\/2017.brucon.org\/images\/5\/55\/Sched_Workshop_Registration_06.png\" alt=\"Sched Workshop Registration 06.png\" width=\"730\" height=\"656\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Congratulations! You have successfully registered yourself to a workshop.<\/p>\n<p><b>Note<\/b>: You can quickly check if you are registered to a workshop on the\u00a0<a class=\"external free\" href=\"https:\/\/brucon0x0b.sched.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/brucon0x0b.sched.com\/<\/a>\u00a0website, by looking at the icon on the left of each item name. Like this one:<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"image\" href=\"https:\/\/2017.brucon.org\/index.php\/File:Sched_Workshop_Registration_04.png\"><img src=\"https:\/\/2017.brucon.org\/images\/f\/f3\/Sched_Workshop_Registration_04.png\" alt=\"Sched Workshop Registration 04.png\" width=\"730\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Note2<\/b>: You can also register by directly clicking on the little white circle on the left of an item from the main page.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"How_to_cancel_a_registration\" class=\"mw-headline\">How to cancel a registration<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>In order to cancel your registration to a workshop, click on the small black circle with the white checkmark in it.<\/p>\n<p>Once it turned back into a white circle, this mean you have cancelled your registration to the workshop.<\/p>\n<p><b>Beware<\/b>: Once you cancel a registration, your position in the list of attendees is lost <b>\/!\\<\/b>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h3><span id=\"What_if_the_workshop_is_full.3F\" class=\"mw-headline\">What if the workshop is full?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>If the maximum number of participant to a workshop have registered, you will no longer be able to register to the workshop.<\/p>\n<p>However, there is still a possibility for a spot to free itself on the day of the workshop.<\/p>\n<p><b>Reminder:<\/b> A registration guarantees your access to the workshop up till <b>5 minutes before<\/b> the workshop&#8217;s official start time. If you arrive later than that, you will <b>lose<\/b>\u00a0your reservation, and any person present at the entrance will be given your spot in a first come first serve basis.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_toggle title=&#8221;Do I need to have a sched.com account to register to workshops?&#8221;]Yes. We are using the sched.com services to make our list of participants, and it is only possible to register to a workshop when logged in with your sched.com account.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=&#8221;Do I need to have a sched.com account to attend BruCON?&#8221;]No. You do not need a sched.com account to come to BruCON. You will be able to enter the conference and all the talks without the need of a sched.com account. (For Workshops, see previous question)[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=&#8221;Do I need to be registered to a talk to see it?&#8221;]No. Registration is mandatory only for\u00a0<b>Workshops<\/b>.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=&#8221;Can I register to more than one workshop?&#8221;]Yes, you can.<\/p>\n<p><b>Note<\/b>: You will\u00a0<b>not<\/b>\u00a0be able to register to multiple workshops which occur in the same timeslot.<\/p>\n<p>Note2: please make sure you register only to the workshops you intend to follow.[\/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=&#8221;If I cancel my registration, can I re-register again later?&#8221;]<\/p>\n<div id=\"mw-content-text\" class=\"mw-content-ltr\" dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\n<p>Yes, this is possible. However, as the registration is a first come, first serve; if you cancel you registration, you will lose your slot.
